Stop by our booth, in conjunction with the Police Department and other community partners for the National Night Out.
Bowie residents and police will celebrate neighborhoods and get to know each other at the 36th annual National Night Out observances.
National Night Out, which is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch, is designed to generate neighborhood support and participation in crime prevention efforts and to enhance police and community relations, officials said.
Along with the traditional display of outdoor lights and front porch vigils, many communities celebrate with an event to help neighbors get to know one another and to build community spirit.
The event will take place at TBD. At this year's event, the Bowie Police will also provide information about the bicycle registration program to help bike owners recover their bikes if they are lost or stolen. Bowie residents who bring their bikes to the National Night Out event can register them that evening.
The Bowie Police Department will also have a sign-up sheet for the Bowie Police Citizens Academy, which is a 10-week program for residents interested in a better understanding of Law Enforcement. Residents will have the opportunity to learn about various divisions within the Bowie Police Department and a few partnering agencies.
The National Night Out Against Crime event will also feature law enforcement displays, information booths, children's activities and the chance to drop Bowie Police Chief in a dunk tank. There will be free food, face painting, a moon bounce, and giveaways for the children. Local businesses, such as Target, Texas Roadhouse and Toyota are co-sponsoring the event.
Cause for Paws will have information on pet and animal safety appropriate for children.
